I do not do studio portraits.  I like to capture people in the environment where they are the most comfortable.  This woman spent a lot of time in the kitchen and this is how her family pictures her.  So, after consulting on this image with her, we agreed to take this picture in her kitchen.  We considered several poses and then I noticed that she had been reading the newspaper before I came over.  Therefore, we captured one picture with her reading the paper and this turned out to be the most successful picture.  I used two small strobes for this picture so that they would be less invasive and distracting.  With big studio lights, people tend to act differently.  You may want to consider a “Kitchen Portrait”.
